Our Story

From a Family Table to Yours

A family sharing dinner and naan at Urban Tadka

Urban Tadka began the way many good meals do — around a crowded family table, with too many dishes and nobody in a hurry. The founders grew up on North Indian home cooking: dal that bubbled away all afternoon, kebabs for special occasions, and the belief that feeding people well is its own kind of affection.

When we opened our doors in Gurgaon, the goal wasn't to reinvent that food — it was to give it a room that matched how much we loved it. So the recipes stayed honest: hand-ground spices, a charcoal tandoor, dals cooked low and slow. Around them, we built a space that feels current — warm light, comfortable chairs, and service that treats you like a guest rather than a table number.

That's really the whole story. Familiar flavours, cooked with patience, served in a room designed for staying a little longer. We hope it feels like the best kind of invitation.

What Guides Us

Three Things We Don't Compromise

Fire First

The tandoor is lit before anything else each day. Breads, kebabs and paneer all start over real charcoal heat.

Fresh, Every Morning

We buy produce daily, grind our own masalas and simmer our dals for hours. There are no shortcuts worth taking.

Hosted, Not Served

We want every table to feel looked after — the way a good host runs their own dining room at home.
